What are Myths? Myths are part of “Folklore” Stories, especially those about a people or Culture. Myths usually explain the “origin” or beginning of someone or something in nature.
Types of Myths:
Creation Myths: describe how earth or a group of people came to be.
Nature Myths: describe why something in nature is the way it is.
Hero Myths: describe the quest of a hero or heroine.
Greek & Roman Myths: describe the actions of gods or godesses
Some examples might include:
Some ideas: Where does thunder come from?
Why does snow fall to the ground?
How did the Leopard get its spots?
The main characters in Myths are usually gods, demigods, or humans with supernatural powers.
Characteristics of Myths:
- Gods and Godesses who interact with humans
- Gods and Godesses in disguise
- Magical or Supernatural explanation for events or things in nature
- Characters experience a transformation or change
